On March 15th Skana Aluminum became the 105th recipient of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Voluntary Party Certificate of Completion for environmental work done at its Manitowoc property.
Following a tour with the Secretary of the DNR, Cathy Stepp, Congressman Tom Petri, members of the DNR staff in Green Bay and a presentation by Tom Testwuide, Chairman and CEO, employees and guests enjoyed pizza from the Newton Lake Inn.

At Monday's State of the City address at City Hall, Mayor Justin Nickels mentioned the developments at Skana Aluminum, specifically citing the employment numbers since inception. He acknowledged Robert Gamba and Steve Gallimore in the audience there to present a gift to the City for all the help and support received the past year.
On January 18, 2011 it was announced that President Barack Obama would visit the city of Manitowoc the day after his State of the Union address. On Thursday of that week the White House contacted Skana Aluminum Company about a possible stop while in Manitowoc.
