ELECTRICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Electrician
Reports To: Electrical Maintenance Supervisor
Department: Maintenance

COMPETENCIES: (i.e., to be defined in terms of required education, training, skills, and/or experience)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Journeyman Industrial Electrician or equivalent (4-5 years’ experience minimum)
- Experience with heavy industrial equipment (i.e., Cranes, Forklifts, Presses, Furnaces)
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley components
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Windows 7 and XP
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Willingness to work with others as a team as well as ability to work alone
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: (i.e., functions, authorities, tasks, etc.)
- Responsible for planning, lay out, installation and maintenance of complex electrical equipment such as automatic controls, generating equipment, large switchboards, motors, and other AC and DC equipment
- Establish secondary distribution centers, balance loads, and install all sizes of conduit pipe and wire circuits having a large number of units and connections
- Troubleshoot and remedy electrical issues
- Comply with prescribed safety regulations and established codes
- Work from wiring diagrams and schematic drawing and use electrical measuring and testing devices
- Diagnose and repair electronic circuits, test resistors, capacitors, relays, electronic components and electronic tubes
- Perform periodic inspections of electrical equipment
- Perform minor Millwright work (move motors, remove guards, etc.)
- Change brushes and recondition copper commutators
- Able to reading electrical prints/drawings.
- Knows electronic components such as relays, switches (many types and contact configurations), motor starters, transformers, fuses, etc…
- Familiar with PLC programming and able to read ladder logic (primarily Allen Bradly slc 500 and 5000)
- Familiar with AC and DC drives.
- Focused on safety and lock and tag out procedures.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
- Comply with the Company’s quality management system requirements

- Interface with all levels of the organization and outside contractors
